Ceylon's green tea "Soursop and Peach" tastes great not only warm, but also as a children's favourite - iced tea. This tea is made from Ceylon's large leaf green tea, which is complemented by natural soursop thickened juice, safflower flowers, peach chunks and soursop chunks. The soursop fruit is high in vitamin C and antioxidants.
The soursop, the fruit of health, is a broad-leaved, flowering, evergreen tree. It is native to the tropical regions of the Americas and the Caribbean. Soursop is widely available in Indonesia and is believed to have medicinal benefits.
A magical bouquet of flavours in every sip of tea
The tea with soursop and peaches also has a special additive - safflower.
Safflower is a very branchy, thistle-like annual plant. It is commercially cultivated for vegetable oil extracted from the seeds and was used as a substitute for saffron by the early Spanish colonies at Riogrande. The plants are 30-150 cm long and have globose flower heads with yellow, orange or red flowers. Each branch usually has one to five flower heads, each containing 15 to 20 seeds. Safflower is native to dry environments with seasonal rain. It grows a deep taproot which allows it to thrive in this environment.
Safflower leaves are used in salads and taste similar to peas, and its flowers are also very tasty, similar in flavour to sorrel. The sour flowers are used in salads or preserves. It is also a healthy source of fatty acids. Safflower regulates blood sugar, lowers cholesterol, improves heart health, fights inflammation and soothes dry skin.
Tea with peach chunks will take you on a sweet journey! Peaches with white flesh are usually very sweet, while yellow peaches usually have a sweet and sour taste. In China, Japan and neighbouring Asian countries, the less sour peaches are most popular, while Europeans and North Americans have historically favoured the sour, yellow peach varieties.
